Experiment: how water deposits materials in layers. Takes 2 days to complete.
1. cut two 1 inch slits in the bottom of a 2 liter plastic bottle.
2. cover each slit with tape
3. use a funnel to half fill the bottle with soil.
4. almost fill the bottle with water.
5. screw on the lid, shake vigorously and leave for 24 hours.
6. remove the lid and place one end of some plastic tubing in the water.
7. suck the water up, making sure not to swallow any, then put your thumb over the end.
8. bend the tube downward into the sink or a container, remove your thumb and the water will drain out.
9. pull the tape off the slits in the base and leave it to drain for 24 hours.
You should see that the soil has settled in layers
